How many of us are finding ourselves tired from our everyday lives that we either do not train to our max potential or find ourselves skipping workouts..? Well nowadays with the world going so fast, it becomes quite a challenge for individuals to keep up with healthier lifestyles, such as eating healthier and working out.
In order to keep up with my lifestyle lately, I have found new and clever ways to keep training for all my races and challenges.
Figuring out what works best for you is the real challenge.
Since I am a middle school teacher who commutes daily, I have learned to incorporate my training into my work-life by either coaching sports and training with the students, as well as starting active clubs where the students get out there, such as hiking clubs and other nature clubs, racing clubs, etc. This year I have even gone ahead and started my very own OCR club, where the students will participate in workouts/training to be able to run 5-10K races, obstacle races, and fun runs (e.g. color runs, themed run, etc.), which I will then run with them and use as my own training for bigger races.
Additionally, I have gone ahead and used virtual races as a way to encourage others and myself to run races when it suits me. Whether it be night or day, a virtual race is always a great motivator, especially with the neat options/medals that are out there.
With the Tahoe Spartan World Championship around the corner, I will be taking advantage of these extra opportunities, as well as training nights at home in my decked-out home gym.
