As my summer draws to an end, so too does my summer racing seasoning, with my final races down! In just the last three weekends, I have ran the Hollister Superhero 5K, coming in with another PR (21:58), the Angel Stadium Spartan, where I completed every challenge with little difficulty (including the spear throw that most people miss), and finally, the Radical 80’s 10K where I wasn’t too far from PRing again, but still placed in my age group!
While I normally do not race over the summers, I decided to try something different this time around as I prep and get ready for my 2019-2020 OCR school team, which by the way was in the paper after our Superhero 5K race just a few weeks ago!
The team now has race banners, flags, and even new gear. We have new, big, and exciting plans for the 2019-2020 race year, and have even partnered with Just Run, which is a program established by the Big Sur MarathonFoundation to help promote fitness & health to today’s youth.
Not only do I have big plans for my youth team, but I too have big plans for myself this school year and have signed up for three upcoming half marathons (Monterey, San Juan Bautista, and San Cruz), and even the Big Sur Marathon in April! The 2019 year was the year of the Spartan, but 2020 will be the year of the Marathons! I am excited about everything coming and cannot wait to see how it all turns out!
Now, until the next entry, remember to never give up and push yourselves each and every day!
